Places in Chaoshan: thirty-eight across three cities

The sights of Chaoshan are spread over three cities, and they are gathered here by city: 13 in Chaozhou, 13 in Shantou, 12 in Jieyang. Each card gives three lines — what to look at, what to watch out for, and how to reckon the hours — and the link leads to the full entry.

The three lines on a card are not a summary written for the purpose: each is the opening line lifted from its own entry. For the whole of it, go into the entry and read the two sections “What to see” and “Visiting notes”. The places are scattered, and crossing between cities in one day costs more time in the car than at the site; group them by city before choosing.

Chaozhou 13 places

Shantou 13 places

Jieyang 12 places

The hours line reads “the day’s official notice is the authority” throughout: opening times, ferries and cable cars across Chaoshan shift with season, water level and public holidays, and this site does not record a fixed timetable. The page three minutes before setting out is the order of checks to run at the door, at Three minutes before setting out.

Sources and notes

The card text is not a summary written separately: every line is the opening sentence of the corresponding entry as published. The evidence and citations sit in that entry’s own “Sources and notes” section; nothing here is added, only gathered and ordered.

The three city counts take the present-day cities of Chaozhou, Shantou and Jieyang in full, not the old counties; Dabu and Fengshun, which were in the same prefecture under the Qing and are now in Meizhou, are not counted among the thirty-eight.

The “hours” line reads “the day’s official notice is the authority” throughout; this site records no fixed opening times or sailings. For the order of checks before setting out, see Three minutes before setting out.
